for taller people esp, there is a bit of a skirt length problem. But i've made my own before and I sew in general so... I want to add: pay attention to and measure the length of your waist-ankle vs waist-floor (and chest for chest-high skirts). Due to the slight variation in length you want to make sure that the length of the skirt is roughly between those two measurements. (too long, and ur gonna trip, too short and well...) - to give a better perspective I'm roughly 174cm/5'8.5" and my waist to ankle is about 104cm/41", so I aim for things about 105cm (to floor is roughly 109cm/43 & i've usually been safe with 105 but it is a bit short! (110cm is best! but not always available) Please note I usually wear about 1-1 1/2" heels with my outfit so the extra length is helpful for me personally too!
😂😍 I honestly love putting my hair up like this! I started wearing my hair like this a ton since it doesn't pull nearly as bad on my hair as hairbands and clips!
Oh I have to try this! been growing out my hair during the pandemic. mainly just because I wanted to see how long I can last. So I think I can do this! Wish me luck!
For anyone with shorter hair that might not be able to do a bun with a full head. It's not accurate to anything I know of, but you can do this easily with half up your hair as a half up half down. I do it all the time as a day-way to just keep my hair out of my face! and it much more comfortable once you get the hang of it than using a hair band or a hair clip (definitely lasts better than a hair clip imo)
Absolutely obsessed with this particular style!!! flowy wide leg pants have always been a favorite of mine. and when I first learned there's a hanfu version?!!?!! *chef's kiss*
haha! that graphic at the end! "just a pony tail"! I usually use a plain hair stick to put my hair up for daily wear, but it makes the stick angle down, which is no good for the fancier pieces I have. I'll have to try this next time I do a full outfit!
Another suggestion for DIY, if you don't have a fancy pleating iron (it also works really well for slinky fabric like chiffon!). Get a 100% wool mat. It's great because you can iron the fabric as you pleat and then pin it down into the mat as you go so you don't accidentally move the fabric AND you can use it as a big ironing area for future project needs! Note though: they can get expensive if you buy one marketed for "sewing", but I got one for $30 that's roughly 30x30 in at a horse tacking shop! just don't iron over sensitive materials like plastic, woods or stone only since they're usually 1")
So excited to see this new pattern!! I've already made my own shorter version of the skirt and wasn't sure how to approach the top! Thank you for posting this and honestly the whole set of patterns it's been a really big help for me to figure out what to do!

great tutorial! Very easy to follow & I love having options that don't require hair pieces since I'm kinda lazy 😂
