respectful hanfu art

I want to draw some pretty hanfu art, but I want to make sure I’m being appropriate and respectful. Do y’all think it’s okay to directly redraw a set from an image/reference? Secondly, how much modern interpretation/alterations would be allowed? I’m sure the rules are slack enough, but I’m always a little worried that I’ll break some really grave one,,,
