The 2025 Guangzhou Huazhao Festival

Flower Goddess Festival, themed “Pearl River Mirrors Blossoms, Kapok Illuminates Hanfu,” took place from March 15 to 16 at Pearl River Park. Organized by Guangzhou municipal authorities and Yunhan Association, the event reimagined the ancient “Flower Birthday” celebration as a fusion of cultural heritage and urban vibrancy.

Themed Floral Parades: Six formations—including “Loyalty of Kapok” and “Bamboo Resilience”—honored professionals like firefighters and teachers, linking floral symbolism to modern civic values.

Interactive ICH Experiences: Workshops on paper-cutting, sugar painting, shadow puppetry, and calligraphy engaged families in reviving traditional crafts.

Hanfu Showcases: Over 100 participants in dynastic attire staged parades, while the debut of a kapok-themed mascot highlighted Guangzhou’s identity.

The festival blended ecology (kapok as the city flower) with urban culture, emphasizing Guangzhou’s role as a “city of heroes.” Future plans include integrating international arts, sports, and commercial activities to enhance the park’s appeal as a cultural-ecological hub.

By transforming floral motifs into civic pride and traditional crafts into interactive experiences, the event attracted 10,000+ visitors, exemplifying how festivals can drive cultural-tourism integration.
