The 2025 Fuzhou Huazhao Festival

The 2025 Fuzhou Huazhao Festival (Flower Festival) grandly opened on March 15 at Minyue Water Town in Fuzhou, Fujian Province, under the theme "Blossoms in Splendor · Joyous Blessings" (花朝锦簇·喜巳福来). Organized to celebrate spring’s arrival and traditional Han culture, the event featured five core highlights: a sacred Flower Goddess Ceremony, ritualistic "Pichang Shanghong" (披彩赏红, draping colored ribbons on flowers for blessings), Hanfu-clad Flower Goddess processions, themed performances, and flower boat parades along the town’s waterways.

Over 100 Hanfu enthusiasts participated in vibrant parades, showcasing Tang, Song, and Ming dynasty attire, while flower-adorned boats navigated the canals, creating a dynamic fusion of history and scenery. Interactive rituals like the Hairpin Flower Ceremony (簪花礼) and Flower God Worship immersed visitors in Tang-Song era customs, with designated photo zones amplifying the festive ambiance. The event also included cultural workshops on flower arrangement and traditional archery, alongside nightly water shows blending holographic technology with Fujian’s maritime Silk Road history.

Minyue Water Town—a National 5A-rated scenic area—leveraged its Hui-style architecture and water-town landscapes to enhance the festival’s authenticity. Visitors enjoyed discounted tickets (50 RMB for locals) and free entry by wearing Hanfu or floral accessories, aligning with the county’s push for cultural tourism integration. The festival, running through April, aims to solidify Fuzhou’s status as a hub for "China-chic" revival, blending heritage with modern entertainment to attract domestic and international travelers.
