Starring Luo Yun Xi, Bai Lu, Chen Du Ling, and Deng Wei, with Sun Zhen Ni, and Wang Yi Fei in supporting roles, the fantasy Xuanhuan drama "Till The End Of The Moon" has officially announced its release date. Starting on April 6th, it will be exclusively broadcast on Youku.
Adapted from the "Hei Yue Guang Na Wen BE Ju Ben" by Teng Luo Wei Zhi, "Till The End Of The Moon" tells the story of the love and hate relationship between the demon lord Tantai Jin and Li Susu, the daughter of the head of Hengyang Sect. It has garnered much attention since its production began.
The story is about the Hengyang Sect leader's daughter, Li Su Su (played by Bai Lu), who risks everything to save the world from the tyrannical rule of the demon lord Tantai Jin (played by Luo Yun Xi). She travels back 500 years to disguise herself as Ye Xi Wu, the youngest daughter of the Ye family, in order to prevent the young Tantai Jin from becoming a demon, before he is consumed by evil thoughts. However, she never expected Tantai Jin to be her husband in that time period. As they spend more time together, they develop feelings for each other. Ultimately, Li Su Su sacrifices herself to change Tantai Jin and the fate of the world.
The most exciting aspect of the drama is the three main actors - Luo Yun Xi, Bai Lu, Chen Du Ling, and Deng Wei - each playing multiple roles. The collaboration of the ensemble cast will be the highlight of the drama.
On April 3rd, the release of the first trailer, costume special, and multiple posters for "Till The End Of The Moon" left audiences and fans thoroughly satisfied, not only with its breathtaking Eastern aesthetics and magnificently grandiose visuals but also with its subtly resonant use of the graceful and atmospheric Dunhuang color.
The character relationships and plot developments in "Till The End Of The Moon" offer a refreshing change from the norm, with delightful surprises in everything from the attire to the visual effects.
The scheduling trailer conveys the fantastical action-packed drama of the show with full force, as it features a series of dramatic conflicts unfolding one after another – from the fierce struggles between male lead Tantai Jin and female lead Li Su Su that involve life and death, gods and demons, and defiance against fate itself – all skillfully interspersed with deft pacing and relentless climaxes.
Apart from its star-studded cast, this drama brings together the industry's top-notch production team: director Ju Jueliang, a renowned figure in costume and martial arts drama production who won the Best Director Award at the Magnolia Awards for his work on "The Water Margin"; the costume designer Huang Wei, who also worked on "Tiny Times" and "Tribes and Empires-Storm of Prophecy", and hair and makeup artist Zeng Minghui, who collaborated on "Under the Power" and "Story of Yanxi Palace"; the art director Luan Hexin, who was nominated for the Best Art Design Award at the Magnolia Awards for his outstanding work on "Winter Begonia" and is known for his exemplary designs on "Empresses in the Palace" and "Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace". In addition, the action team Haiqi Motion Group from "The Yin-Yang Master: Dream of Eternity" and "Immortality", as well as the world-building and aesthetic concept design team Huatian Film & Television from "The Untamed" also joined this drama.
The "Till The End Of The Moon" series posters were released simultaneously.
The characters played by Luo Yun Xi, namely Tantai Jin, Cang Jiu Min, and Ming Ye, drew inspiration from the common story paintings found in Dunhuang murals to describe past lives and present struggles. Traditional painting techniques were employed to portray the character's diverse personalities using exquisite and flamboyant flame, cloud, and water patterns that are representative of Dunhuang's romantic and artistic style.
Bai Lu, who played Li Su Su, Ye Xi Wu, and Sang Jiu, utilized cloud patterns from traditional Chinese murals to create a cohesive spatial environment. These patterns are cleverly interspersed with elements that reflect the characters' attributes and experiences.
Chen Du Ling, who portrayed Ye Bing Chang, Mei Nu, and Tian Huan, primarily used flowing and complex textures and elegant lines to embody the seemingly tender yet tumultuous nature of each character.
Deng Wei, who played Xiao Lin, Sun Zhen Ni, who played Pian Ran, and Geng Yeting, who played Ye Qingyu, drew inspiration from Dunhuang aesthetics in the creation of their respective posters.
Each poster leaves ample room for interpretation, exploring the nuanced backgrounds and personalities of each character. The rustic elegance, intricate complexity, and lively vigor of Dunhuang murals served as a source of inspiration for the poster designs. The creators of "Till The End Of The Moon" have visited Dunhuang many times, deeply moved by its aesthetic beauty, and hope that their work can perpetuate this millennium-old tradition of Eastern aesthetics.
"Till The End Of The Moon" not only has a strong fan base, but also has a high-quality production that is supported by the drama's creators. Additionally, it draws nourishment from China's excellent traditional culture, such as Dunhuang aesthetics. While these are important factors in the drama's pre-release success, it is essential to note that "Till The End Of The Moon" possesses a positive and uplifting energy that showcases the characters' growth and perseverance. It conveys warm humanistic sentiments and a spirit of upward progress, while maintaining a sense of reality within its narrative. The show displays confidence and self-awareness in promoting Chinese cultural values to a global audience. These "to be continued" elements will undoubtedly be further highlighted as the drama is broadcasted.
