Hanfu models are arguably the luckiest of all, as they are always the first to try on the latest hanfu and take beautiful photos. But becoming a good hanfu model also takes a lot of hard work. Modern Hanfu found four hanfu models and let's hear their stories.
No.1 A Shang (阿尚)
I am a college student studying drama performance, and I chose to join the hanfu modeling industry in my freshman year because I wanted to gain more shooting experience to better train myself and to reduce some economic pressure for my family, and I had participated in some aspects of modeling work.
When I first joined the hanfu modeling industry, I thought hanfu modeling was the same as print modeling, but then I realized that I had to have my own "Yun Wei (韵味, charm)" to make it work.
And the outside world's opinion about hanfu is really too single, each hanfu model as a "show" on stage for a minute or even a dozen seconds, may have to do a full month or two months of preparation off stage.
From the understanding of the costume, to the selection of the overall style, to the design of individual movements, this is all the effort that a hanfu model needs to put into the costume.
Behind each set of hanfu, there is a team working day and night, and when these efforts are delivered to the hanfu model, the model has to achieve more than beauty, but also to express the unique "charm" of the hanfu based on the beautiful embroidery and features.
Maybe I am still far from it, but I am looking forward to the day when I can do it with ease. I am constantly learning about traditional Chinese costumes and various aspects of Chinese traditional culture, such as traditional festivals, traditional customs, and the twenty-four solar terms.
As a college student and also as a hanfu model, I hope that in the future I can promote China's excellent traditional culture through my own efforts and make people understand and love Chinese national treasures more.
No.2 Zhi Zhi (枝枝, hanfu kol)
At the beginning, I decided to become a hanfu model because I could wear a lot of good-looking hanfu, but at that time I only knew one hanfu form: Ruqun, but later, as I got to know more about hanfu, I realized that there are so many hanfu forms, and the hair and makeup for each form are different, so I learned a lot about it.
On my way to become a hanfu model, I met a lot of like-minded people, a lot of good photographers and interesting people. They are all little treasures that I have gained. We often discuss and communicate together, plan various shooting plans, learn and progress together.
Last year I also went on a hanfu trip with my friends. On the way to the trip, we saw a lot of beautiful scenery, met a lot of interesting people and things, and also made me feel the greatness of China, and it was an unparalleled experience to be able to walk in the great mountains of our country in hanfu.
If there is anything I should pay special attention to as a hanfu model, it is that I must pay attention to controlling my facial expressions and do a good job of expression management.
Also, it is important to enhance your understanding of beauty, to know your strengths and avoid your weaknesses, and to find the right angle for yourself so that you can better express your beauty in the shooting.
No.3 Le Xiaosheng (乐小生)
Hello everyone, I'm Le Xiaosheng! I am currently a senior broadcasting and hosting student, and I am also a hanfu lover.
I have been a fan of hanfu for four or five years before I went to college. After I went to college, I finally wore the hanfu that I had been longing for and achieved my small goal.
In the first semester of my senior year, my last academic year in college, I was not willing to be bored and chose to rent out a room and become a hanfu model.
At the beginning of my career as a hanfu model, I met a group of lovely Tong Pao. Probably because we shared a common hobby, we got along especially well and made me feel warm and loved when I was living alone in Chengdu.
I am always asked by my friends how to become a hanfu model. In my opinion, the most important thing is to love hanfu. Only when you truly love hanfu and understand the culture of hanfu can you show the beauty of hanfu when you wear it and are given that unique beauty.
I always think that if you want to be a good hanfu model, you have to be open-minded and hardworking, and take every shoot seriously to gain valuable experience from it and better your ability.
I think that as a hanfu enthusiast, sometimes it is not necessary to focus on the material gains, but it is also very important to gain experience and improve your knowledge of hanfu.
I hope that I can produce good works and share the shock and surprise that hanfu brings to me, so that more people can fall in love with hanfu. In the future, I will also stick to my choice, not forgetting my original intention, refining my acting skills, using my brain, and making more and better works.
No.4 Jie Sang (杰桑)
The reason why I wanted to become a hanfu model in the first place was that I always loved hanfu and I wanted to let more people know about it and fall in love with it.
Being a hanfu model is actually a very interesting thing because I can meet a lot of different people, get in touch with a lot of different things, go to a lot of different places, see different scenery after work, and relax myself properly.
If I were to say what I can get from being a hanfu model, I think what I can get from it is not only the value of my labor, but also many different things.
After I started modeling hanfu, I learned a lot of knowledge about it, and I made up for a lot of my previous deficiencies and knowledge gaps. Now when people ask me what kind of clothes I am wearing, I can explain the form of the hanfu I am wearing and some historical stories, instead of just saying it is hanfu.
What is even more enjoyable is that in the process of becoming a hanfu model, I met many friends who share the same hobby and gained a lot of experience. In the process of becoming a hanfu model, I have met many friends who share the same hobby and gained many fans of my own.
If you ask me what makes me a good hanfu model, I don't really have a say in it, because I think I am not good enough and I still have a lot to learn and improve. But I think the most important thing as a hanfu model is to like hanfu and love hanfu.
